Smoke coming from under hood

Truck is in my sig, I have what I thought was and exhuast leak and I fixes all the welds and made sure the exhaust was sealed.. Well I still hear a leak but it doesn't sound like exhaust it sounds like a hose somewhere , and it's LOUD! It sounds like a air duster can.. Also I hardly have any sound coming out o the muffler it sounds as if I'm running and open header or at least the exhaust sound is coming from the drivers side right in front of my feet.. So I pulled over, and smoke was coming from under the hood, and my temp gauge showed 180* which was in the normal range on the gauge..(aftermarket gauge) any ideas?

Here's a few ideas, perhaps it's the plastic fenderwell? A rubber hose touching the exhaust somewhere. Is it steam from a coolant leak somewhere?

It's kinda got a coolant smell to it, but it's also extremely sluggish and misses too, almost like the spark plugs or somethig

Check all of the rad hoses and heater hoses and around the radiator and see if there's any wet spots or obvious leaks. There's a million reasons an engine could smoke

Edit: I noticed you said you have an aftermarket temp gauge, maybe it's leaking at the sender. My oil pressure gauge started leaking and cause smoke. Maybe yours is doing the same

Had an issue years ago. Same thing. Might be that little piece of hose that connects from the water pump to the T-connector on the intake.

Are you sure it's not the spring that keeps the hose from collapsing?

Not sure about your smoke, but this sounds like a vacuum line thats off. It'll make that same noise, and it could contribute to the truck running badly.

For the smoke... Are you sure that it's smoke and not steam. You'll be closer to figuring it out if you can make that distinction.

Okay it's actin like it's getting hot because it's steam from the coolant, but what is the awful blowing sound? It's like underneath my feet and it gets worse under acceleration. And the truck barely has any power! And there's hardly any sound coming out from tail pipe it's all underneath my feet

There's a pretty hefty exhaust leak I found but still don't know where the lack of power is coming from, I couldn't even hold 55 up a small hill

CHECK VACCUM LINES! Fords need a few things, vaccum lines, oil, fuel, and coolant. :P

Seriously, check the vaccum lines. That most likely is your low power issue. You're saying it sounds like the exhaust noise is coming from by your feet. I'm pretty sure that's very near manifold and y pipe connection. Check for leaks there. I had an issue like that. New stainless steel bolts and I was good. It's a gasketless connection there.
