Funny thing about new motorhomes, its almost impossible to find MPG data on them.. I'm guessing it's because most of them are just that bad.
And really, if you can afford a new motorhome you can probably afford the fuel regardless.
I doubt you would ever recoup the cost of a switchover unless you drive all over the place.
According to Daily Fuel Gauge Report--national, state and local average prices for gasoline, diesel and E-85. as of 4/9 the national avg for gas is $3.583 and the avg for diesel is $3.987.
If a modern gas burner gets 10.5mpg, and a diesel can eek out 15mpg (2012 Avanti Motorhomes: Class A RV by Thor Motor Coach) then it's quite a difference.
10.5mpg / $3.58 = $0.3409 per mile gas
15mpg / $3.97 = $0.2658 per mile diesel
So a trip from Little Rock to the Grand Canyon is about 1,288 miles according to Google. On a new gas burner that trip would cost you $439.08 and the diesel would cost you $342.35..
But really, when you're talking $400,000 new motorhomes... you aren't gonna miss the $100 difference.

Doesn't matter who made the engine, GM, FoMoCo, or Cummins, the fuel and exhaust still smell bad.
What I hated most of all was the way the black oil would stain my hands and not come off, even with pumice hand cleaner for a week after I did one. At least gas burner crap comes off my hands in one washing.

WASH THE DISHES
It really does work, if I have to get my hands clean for some reason, I just let the wife sit out one evening's dishes.
