Airbag PSI...need some help

So my 93 F250 7.3 IDI has rear airbags. The suspension is really bouncy and I think it's cuz the PO had the airbags up for towing all the time. What is the right PSI for around town ddriving? and what about for hauling? It has ports coming out of the bumper for manual inflation...

Thanks!

I'd run them with zero pressure while empty. I would guess 40-60 PSI while loaded but it really depends on the load. prolly have to load it up and start filling them until the squat is out of the truck, then check pressure.

Zero pressure wont effect them as far shape when I use them? And I would think they could burst under pressure if I fill them while loaded..

Thanks

Think about that statement for a minute,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, now, do you think it will be harder on the bags to fill them than driving down the road with a load on them?

You will want to keep a minimum of 5psi in the bags. You could quickly damage them if you are riding around with 0psi. When the truck is unloaded, you can air it up to a certain psi, and adjust it up/down from there to get the ride you want. And just increase it based on your load.

See now thats what I was thinking. I figured they couldnt just ride loose without some damage. but I can fill them while loaded down? It wouldnt be better to fill them, hook up, and then lower the pressure to my ride height?

Thanks again.

You can fill them when loaded, you need to keep some pressure in them all the time so they dont get out of shape and pinched.

I'm talking when I'm hauling my four horse trailer loaded. Plus the bed loaded with gear for a family of 8 for a week camping trip. It wont hurt to fill them from zero to 80 psi after I'm all loaded down??

No.... You can air the bag anytime. There is way more stress on the bag with uneven surfaces on the road...

The airing up wont hurt, but the 0 psi you start out with will. I think 80 psi is more than you are supposed to put in them. I put a set in an excursion a while back and I wanta say 40-50 was max.

On our Air Lift Load Lifter 5000 kits, you can go up to 100 PSI.
