Our Tabby of 17 years passed not too long ago. Mary's daughter showed up at our door a few months later w/ this guy. "If you don't like him, I'll take him back"... We named him "Junior".

We had one of our cats put down fairly recently. He was a silver tabby that we had for about 13-years. His name was Bob. Towards the end of his life, his body began shutting down on him and his mind followed.

He had developed hyperthyroidism - we couldn't afford the surgery and his body rejected the medications the vet tried to give him. He was literally starving to death and there was absolutely nothing we could do about it - it's a helpless feeling...

Toward the end, he developed a form of Alzheimer's Disease that, I guess, only cats get and he was going around making messes in the apartment because he'd forget where the litter boxes were and he'd get distressed.

RIP Bob.

My daughter recently posted this poem on her Facebook profile, I don't know where she got it from, but it seems fitting...

my cat is sad
no one else in his family is a cat
we are all human except for him
he is excluded from most things
and no one tells him why
he just wants to play
and be loved
he looks at us with wonder
and disappointment
he says hello i am a cat what is my existence
what is that / why it and not me / please can you look at me and love me too
can i have some of your food please I'm sorry i don't like my food so much
do you want to play with my toys? this one is my favorite
do you like me
are we brothers
why didn't i grow up
why am i so small
can you help me be happy
where are you going

This is Bob with our Siamese, Dusty. We still have Dusty and he has a new companion now.

Just a little something to lighten the mood a bit. Posting the above pics of Bob made me tear up a bit...

So sorry about Bob we are such huge animal lovers in our home. They are our family not our animals. Absinthe and Newo (our calico twins) provide me with great comfort as well as laughter. I love them so much and they love them some Mama as well.

Here is one of my devastated driver Belle. Running about 70mph on 95. She loved to drive the car. Lost her to old age Labor Day Weekend in 2010.

Max, our second dog. We ended up putting him to sleep 2 days after this picture was taken. He was almost 17.

Current pet: Peanut, cat I found.

(yes, she is sticking her tongue out--little she demon).

Will have to scan and post pictures of our first dog and the best cat ever .
