This should be pretty simple for someone here that knows what there called. I have an oil leak, its the drain plug, so I need a new one most likely.
Question.
A while back I read a post on here, someone changed the drain plug to one that is kind of like a valve type. Basically it takes the place of the drain plug, then you twist the valve to drain it. I can not find that link on here now. Don't know if I'm not using the correct search terms of what. Does anyone have a link to that thread, or the company website that makes or sells them?
I have a Fumoto valve. I like being able to easily switch it open to drain the oil, and it makes it real easy to grab a sample to send off for OA. It drains slower than a standard plug, but I use that time to change the filter out. Some might say it hangs too low, but there's plenty of other things in the chassis that hang lower. I figure that the chances are pretty remote that something solid enough will strike it. Definitely not enough for me to worry about. In my opinion it's a great mod.
I had a drain plug weeping very slow & changed copper washer from ford, problem solved.I only replace plug when threads start to wear, the Fumoto sounds nice.
The Fumoto valves are nice for sure, but in my experience they drain extremely slow. I just use a standard drain plug now so I do not have to wait forever to change the oil.
