Diesel Kleen

2003 F-250 6.0, 162K miles.

I had a brand new bottle of the product Diesel Kleen in a grey bottle.

I added a quart or so to a tank of fuel that had about 15 gallons. Now my truck runs terrible, won't idle,,, no power. So I changed the filters,,, refueled the truck.

Could the Diesel Kleen cause this and if so what should I do to fix it??

Tampadave.

I use it with no trouble.
Of course i put in the recommended dose,
Which is labeled on bottle.
Perhaps add some diesel to get to proper
concentration.

The smallest bottle of that stuff will do a fuel tank. You need to read the mix ratio.

I believe a quart of DK treats 100 gallons. The only "fix" would be drain the tank. Not sure what might be done running that high of a concentration but it can't be good.

Off the top of my head I think on the back of the bottle they recommend 4 oz. to every 10 gallons of fuel. I believe they also say you can double the recommended ratio in extreme weather or operating conditions. But 1 quart for 15 gallons of fuel is way too much!

I would think you'd be alright if you keep putting new fuel in that tank and topping it up ... that'll keep bringing the concentration down.

You said you had 15gals in the tank. Fill the tank now, which for the small tank would be another 12 - 13 gals and it might help.

for 15 gallons you should have used 3 ounces; if you dumped a full quart in you put 32 ounces in there.

that may be your problem...

Well he is a guy, and what guy reads directions, right?

I think I might have read some once, years ago, but I'm not sure. Kinda foggy, maybe it was just in a dream I had.

Plenty of stories on here of peoples 'booboo's'. Putting gas in the diesel tank is one. I think he'll be able to walk this one off and chalk it up to experience.

It also says on the bottle that overfilling will NOT HURT THE VEHICLE! Sure hurts the wallet tho..... fill the tank with fuel and remember the dosage.

I had just less than a 1/4 tank one day and was heading to the station for fuel. I decided that I would put the diesel kleen in before leaving work.

Drove the 3 miles or so to the station, and the only thing that happened was, the exhaust smelled terrible!!!! Just like the stuff in the bottle!

I don't believe overdosing will cause the truck to run bad. I've even heard of people filling their fuel bowl with DK after changing the filters, and they ran fine. No, I don't recommend that, but it has been done.

Sorry to say, but you have some other problem unrelated to the DK.

Fill the Tank , there wont be a prob, I was in LA and put 10 gals of unleaded in back in 04, an old truck driver told me to put howes in every stop and watch your temps, so I did every stop I put a 1/2 cup of howes and top the fuel 800 miles, temps never moved and I spent more money and grew more grey hair than a white gto,all good check your oil level and clear the water fuel line.4oz of DK per 22 /24 gal fuel.
