dropped the rear for the price of 2 bolts
I have read many mixed messages or taking out rear springs to drop a truck. I talked to a guy that works at a place called automotive spring for 20yrs. ( so I took his advice).
My 51 f1 has a jag front end and the stock rear. It had a lot of rake. The front of my running board was 7.25 and the rear was almost 12" from the ground. Rear bumper was 19 3/8 from ground.
Tonite I decided to remove the bottom 3 leafs. That was the most I could take out with the least work. I qas able to reuse everything but the 2 bolts in the center of the springs (not enough threads with the 3 leaves gone. Just took a shorter 3/8 and rounded the head a little.
Drove it about 10 miles and now I sit much better. The rear of the running board is now just over 11". The rear bumper sits just 17 1/8 off the ground.
So from my point of view it pays to just take out some leaves. It dropped mine 2 1/4. Very happy
