Is a 12'' rim too wide?

I'm looking at a set of 18x12 rims and am just curious if that is too wide for our trucks. I'm finially going to level this thing out and put some bigger tires under it. Any input would be greatly apprieciated!

I've got 12" wide rims.... And 38x15.5-20 they rub the spring under full lock but I'm also a lot higher than most

I'm planning to just run x codes up front with either a 33 or 35 '' tire on 18x12 rims....

Depends on the wheel spacing. Most likely it will rub. I run 16x10's (w/ -25mm or 1" offset) with 35's and a level lift and it barely rubs the backside of the leaf spring under full turn. I actually rubbed worse with the factory 7.5" wide wheels. If it doesn't rub, that means you will have even more hanging out the front side...

If it were me... I wouldn't run a 12" wide rim on a 12.5" tire. I think the tires would wear funny and you wouldn't have much sidewall to protect your rims. I think 10" wide rims would be good for a 12.5" wide tire. John2001 can get away with a 12" wide rim because his tires are 15.5" wide.

Great point.... In all reality my tires are closer to 17" wide if I recall right and the 12" rim was a must for me.
I had a set of 10" wide rims with 14.5" wide tires and they looked bubbly for lack of a better term. I agree a 10" wide rim should do you fine

EDIT: I also have a set of factory rims with 315/75 or 34.5x12.32" mounted on them there 16" rims and they look great

20x12s and 33/13.50 mickey thompsons on mine. Lifted it about 3.5 inches in the front. No rub anywhere now. Never rubbed on the leaf springs just on the plastic wheel well liner when it was lower. Wheels have a -44 offset.
