What seats will fit in my truck

I have a 94 single cab. Just wondering what's out there that I could use instead of the bench seat that's in there. It's not exactly comfortable and I'd like to have a functional console since its a manual so the middle seat is useless.

I'd like to just have 2 bucket seats and a console fitted between them even if I have to retrofit one out of a newer truck in there.

The best bet is to get the factory 40/20/40 bucket seat adapter and tracks, and then you can pick and choose from a variety of seats - Explorer seats are popular and lots to chose from at the junkyard.

The challenge is that this adapter is rather rare as bucket seats were almost never fitted in single cab trucks.

yup, this is the easiest way. which is how i did it.

"operation bench to bucket"

good luck in finding a 40-20-40 base. from what i've read you'll have to find one out of a reg or a crew cab truck, '87-'94.

Ideally you get the bracket with the two bucket seat tracks attached. Then you can attach a number of different bucket seats as sourced from a variety of Ford donors.

Without the tracks, you'd need to sort out how the tracks from your donor seats attach to the bracket. In most all cases, they would not be plug & play.

Ironically enough, I went junkyarding yesterday and came across one of these brackets for the first time ever, so I'll post a pic later (or whenever it stops raining). It's got a "F4" part#, so at best it was available only for three years ('94 - '96), and only in regular cabs/crew cabs (not Super Cab) with the 40/20/40 bucket/jump seats.

There also exists an after-market version of this bracket, designed to accept after-market bucket seats that have either 8 or 10" width spacing for the tracks. You're probably even less likely to find this though.

Apparently I need to go junk yarding. That always ends with me spending money.

But won't any solution? I haven't found any bucket seat trees growing in the wild.

Just be prepared not to find one of those adapter brackets. They are rather rare.

I meant going to the junk yard leads to me thinking. "Hmm I may use that" and I leave with everything.

Ah, this I understand. It was in a junkyard that the idea for this creation was developed...

If you want a direct bolt in deal and a very comfortable bench seat, get one from an 87-91 XLT Lariat truck. Have one in my '89 F150 Custom, and love it.

thats funny cus i took out the same seat ^ dieseljohn and replaced it with a much more comfortable bench from a '96 super cab lol.
to me those 40/20/40 bucket's are just as rock hard too.
i was about to start checking out some seats from more modern cars/suv's before my trans went.always something more important comes up.

While this one ^^^ is an upgrade to the stock bench, all the ones I've ever seen at the junkyard have been rather nackered out. Plus, just as you show here, they tend to all be that "porno red" color which I never liked even in the 80's.
