I went to the salvage yard to grab a steering column yesterday, they had several to choose from but none was the same as mine...Mine has no airbag, no shifter(manual transmssion) but does have tilt. Will one with airbag plug into my wiring harness or do I need to find an identicle one?

i just did that. similar original set up (tilt, airbag, cc, manual) and got a column out of a auto with no airbag or tilt or cc.
the ignition bits plugged right in. i just have a useless shifter and no tilt or any of the other goodies that were on my old column. i'm going to replace the bearings on that one and put it back in.
i did loose the horn though...

 

I did replace the bearing a couple years ago, but he shaft was so worn that it didn't help for long. The new shaft replacement is very expensive.
I dont really want to lose my cc or horn. Maybe I can take my column to the yardwith me and check wiring plugs.
