Whole new one at advance auto online is $150. I've seems em on for as low as 10 bucks on eaby that need rebuilding. I would re-tap the treads same size to clean em up and use pipe thread tape. I think its only like 7psi from the pump so not much pressure you are holding back.

You might also want to use some two part epoxy as a sealant when you try to thread it back in after cleaning.

Great idea. I've drilled and tapped JB Weld

I am not sure how well the Teflon sealant tape works with gasoline, especially having ethanol in it. I do know there IS a sealant tape available for fuel fitting sealing. I just don't know off hand where to get it. Napa, or such may be a start.

Hope this helps.

Aloha, Tony

teflon tape alternative

I found this on another forum:
This is the stuff you want. Should be available at any autoparts store:

I have used it, and it works on fuel fittings. Permatex 56521 high performance thread sealant.

I received a used carb from fellow member last Friday. I used the main body of his and everything else from my carb since I had just rebuilt a few months ago. Seems that the fuel inlet threads are very specific for Holley on these 1904's and the PO put new fitting and threads were just barely off and ended up stripping my carb over time.

2 questions

1-truck now likes to be COMPLETELY warmed up or will sputter and bog if try to drive too soon-really gotta feather her...once warm she runs like a dream. Is this something an adjustment can overcome?

2-how do you give rep points to another member?
