1980's f600 steps. Right step has been shortened (cut and folded back) to 1957 F750 spec.

Modified 1980's step next to 1957 F750 step. All the same now even the ridges and curves are identical.

Now to swap over the underside brace and corner "gap filler" that the 1980's step does not have.

The 1957 steps were pretty twisted and cracked.

Now the 80's step fits under the cab (front). Rear section of step will be made from 1961 F600 steps which are a bit shorter than the fronts so that they clear the rear of the cab. They will be joined with a filler piece made from another step section to make one long crew cab step.

New metal in roof structure.

All door jambs re-aligned and doors operate properly.

1956 F750 factory tow hooks in rear simply bolt to existing holes in frame section behind bumper.

I don't have a metal brake. I use a large chunk of angle iron and a flat plate that sandwiches the metal. An old Snap-On flat body hammer makes this a six minute bend.

These three steps make one long one, mock up:

Backer to join steps into one. Just like ford made for crew cabs.

Running board together on one side.

View of the step installed from front. Missing one headlight spring. Appearantly there are no replacements or even a similar size to fit from another vehicle. Ordered replacement headlights, but they did not fit as they were Chinese made. I cannot find US made replacements, at least in a regular bulb.

Truck is all covered in oil and dirt needs a cleaning. Oil was sprayed on to keep rust away during last wet weather.

Stainless steel tailgate chains from Macs for 1957 styleside.
I had to re-make the tailgate hook/catch as they had been shaved off.

Looking good. Is there a meaning to the red start on the back window?

Quick Google Search on a Pentagram (upside-down star):

"The pentagram or pentacle is probably the best known and used of all occult symbols and is considered to be the most potent means of conjuring benevolent spirits. The inverted pentagram, with the point of the star is downward, is used to conjure up the powers of evil." https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid...%20down%20star

Probably should let the owner reply, because there are a lot of different meanings to symbols throughout history. Kinda like how the iron cross is used, as well as the swastica and upside down cross had different meanings 100-200-300 years ago.

I was excommunicated due to not wearing the colander headgear though. Oh well.

78F800crewcab4x4, I got to say after reading thru start to finish you got mad skills!
And to envision a truck like that is just out of this world. It is a beast!

I have grafted an AC firewall in place of a non-AC firewall on an 81 F100 to look stock just for AC. That was after replacing floors, rockers, cab corners & door posts.
Mine being a flare side and because the bed wood & braces are gone. I plan on using an 8’ style side metal bed floor (parts truck) to mount the sides on to. Hope to have it look like it came from the factory that way.

Cant wait to see it finished but then again are they ever finished?
