RPM gauge not functioning. 1999 F250 7.3 turbo
Hello, I have a problem. I just recently purchased a 1999 F250 Super Duty with a 7.3 Turbo Diesel 4X4 . It's a Lariat. The RPM gauge is not working. What could be the cause of that? All the other gauges are working fine. Well except for the dome light stays on and the door ajar light and the airbag light stay on. I'm not sure where to start looking. i don't think there is a fuse for it. Thanks in advance for you help.

welcome to FTE.
not sure on the rpm gauge, but i can help you with the interior light and door ajar staying on.
the door closed switch is located int he latch inside the foor. get a can of penetrating oil, and give it a good spray the latch, then open and close the door about 10 times. repeat the spray and open/close again. this should clean the switch and shut the lights off.
i have to do mine every 3 years or so.
airbag light staying on could be a few things. either the truck was in an accident and popped the airbag and it was not replaced, or there is a problem with the airbag circuit.
one of the things that will turn the airbag light on is a bad clockspring in the steering column. it will also take out the horn and cruise control.

i have been trying to get back into the work routine, and it is kicking by butt.
fordgirl, as Pat said, scroll on down a few to the 99-03 7.3 forum. there are a bunch of real smart fellers there, and some not so smart fellers, but we generally get the problems solved.

Do you have, had you ever had a remote start?
I am just wondering if for some reason someone tapped that wire, and the only reason I could think it would have been for would be a remote start, this is just a guess, that is why I am asking.
According to the prints, the color should be white, with a pink stripe.
