Thx. I have a younger brother that lives in Austin. He's always trying to get me to visit. Sounds like a really fun city.

Hey Rocket,
Now that's a beautiful engine! Are you leaving the valve covers grey?
It's one of the things I regret - we left our engine unpainted & the waterpump proceeded to rust. It runs fine but no awards for looks.

Hi Ben,

Thanks, and no thats just the primer on the valve covers. They will likely end end up being silver. I believe the original color is argent but I'm not going to go to far out of my way to locate it. All the rest of the engine parts are painted and ready for install. Waiting on gaskets. Hopefully next weekend I can think about putting the engine back on the frame.

A good day today as the engine is back on the frame. Still lots to do and I hope I can get it done before the snow flies.

And frame horn install complete. Could have done a bit more grinding but oh well...good enough for the girl I go out with.

So I've extended my working season on the truck by moving it in the garage. This is will be a huge PITA with my daily driver once it gets cold and starts snowing. But here is a status on my goals for this year:

1) Remove the steel bead and fabricate a temporary flat bed: Bed is removed, frame cleaned/painted and flatbed foundation bolted to frame.
2) Remove the 239 (not original) and tranny for cleaning (engine/tranny are solid): Completed
3) Rebuild Carb: Completed
4) Replace U-joints: Not needed yet
5) Rebuild front brakes and new brake lines (rear lines replaced with the rear brake rebuild): Completed, new drums, wheel cylinders, shoes and lines.
6) Dual stage master cylinder upgrade (manual): Not Completed. Going to run the single MC a bit longer.
7) Headers or original exhaust (one of the areas I’ll be looking to discuss): Almost completed, went with stock exhaust. Hope to pic up a crossover tube tomorrow. Rest of exhaust system sandblasted and POR15 applied
8) Fabricate frame adapter for a Front bumper (I found detailed drawings of that part of the frame on FTE a few years back): Completed, got a pair from an FTE member.
9) New gas tank: Almost completed, put a clear coat on it this evening and plan to install this weekend.

In addition to these things I pulled the PO wiring and will custom make the harness/electrical upgrades myself (PO already converted to 12V)...Its been a busy year. Hope to actually start the engine again within the next two weeks.

Wise decision, your truck is more important than your daily driver.
Looks like you have made some good progress, keep it moving along.

Haha, its not the daily driver I'm concerned about. Its dragging my old butt out and into a freezing cold car. I'm kinda getting used to a cushy life.

Very happy to have the broken cab wing mount replaced. Now the new fuel tank can go in.

Hey Rocketman,
Emma is coming back together! How did you spot that broken wing mount? or could you feel something was wrong? We also had to replace our's but it was a lot more obvious. Good luck on the wiring!

Thanks. I've never did notice the cab mount issue while driving but this creaky ole gal had so many issues I'm not surprised. I found it once I had the front body panels off and could see where someone had tried to weld/fix the cracked mount in place on the forward side. Once the gas tank came out I found that it was broke on that side as well. Basically not supporting anything. I'm anxious for spring to get her back on the road. I also decided just to buy the EZ 12 circuit wire harness rather than build my own. Temps are starting to get in the upper 30's in the daytime so I'll be heading back out to work on her.

Cheers
