I stopped at an auto parts store to get some Diesel Kleen, they had seafoam on sale. I'm not familiar with it and didn't find anything in a search on the forum and was wondering if any of you have dealt with it in a diesel engine?
I use it when I change the fuel filter. I pour in then put the new filter. Helps to clean the injectors. In the wife's Explorer I also use it as a oil treatment. I also use their Deep Creep penetrating oil. Works great. But back to Seafoam I use it in all my small engines in gasoline.
Seafoam in the tank or through a vacuum line doesn't do a thing IMO. Although I've never used it with diesel, I can't say much. I don't add anything to my oil, and I only run Chevron Techron and Gumout with Regaine in my v10 tank. I think diesel kleen is an excellent product, and that regular use(every third tank) is your best bet. At least this is from experience with buddies in the diesel world
I don't know about diesel engines. I use it in every engine I own from a weed eater to my race quad. It keeps the jets and passages in the carburetor and throttle body nice and clean. It does great as a fuel stabilizer too. Some believe in SeaFoam and some don't.
Unless you want to do an oil change within 100 miles, DO NOT USE IT IN YOUR OIL. I had a striction problem once with my 6.0 and used it in the oil AND fuel (used 3 cans) then after 100 miles changed the oil. Never had another striction problem. Use DK faithfully with every new tank of fuel. I also use Shell 5W-40 all year. 5000 mile oil changes......
I tired seafoam a few times. I don't use it any more on anything, I still have half a can on the shelf, now and then I will use it in a container to clean small parts on the bench.
