Just picked up this 460, what do you guys think?

Got it for $200, it was in his 60's F100 project and he decided to go with a 351w for idk what reason. its sittin on the bed of my highboy where it will be one day under a tarp. I put the exhaust manifolds on and taped up all the open holes so nothing gets in and decides to live there. Hes the pics;
Engine pics:

The block and head casting numbers(block then head):

It has an edelbrock 460 performer intake on it and everthing else seems stock but the carb which is clearly a Holley:

Numbers i found to help with identification of the carb, dunno if they really will help or not haha:

first pic reads- P-33
second-6R 2762

Can you guys run the numbers for me? its late and im tired. thanks

3rd pic is the block casting number: D1VE (6015) A2B .. applies to 1971/73 429's, 1971/78 & some 1979 460's. The bore is the same (4.36"), the stroke is different.

Measure the stroke to determine if it's a 429 (3.59") or a 460 (3.85").

So since the headers I found for this truck on summit were really expensive, but what I needed, I looked up flanges to see if we can try to make our own headers---> Doug's Headers Header Flange Kits H7871 - Mobile SummitRacing.com
The headers I found---> http://www.summitracing.com/parts/he...rd/model/f-250

Anyone found these headers cheaper elsewhere? There's a local guy that can make a set but it'll cost about 600$. Gonna talk to a different guy about the flywheel problem and see what he says.

Got good heads. The D3VE heads are pretty much the best stock heads for torque.

Might be trading my heads(cleveland heads) for a decent cam and enough cash for the headers I found this Saturday. Once I sell my old 351m,(sadly its NOT a 400), I should have enough to get the weiand intake and a used carb or a rebuild kit for mine. I actually won't need motor mounts, i can't remember if the 351M/400 use the big block or smallblock motor mounts but it doesn't matter, the guy who had this 460 made an adapter plate(out of .25" steel) to mount the 460 with smallblock motor mounts!. Then it's onto deciding wether or not I want to fork out all that money for a flywheel to use the np435 or to get a c6 for 250-350ish.

If you can use a trans with overdrive, that's going to be nicer on the highway than a C6 even of the C6 is cheaper. The C6 is a strong transmission though.

I've got a C6 behind my 73' 460. It's strong, and I'm not afraid of breaking it. The 1:1 final drive ratio isn't great though. With 4.56 gears and 33" tires, I'm turning 2550 at 55 MPH... I'd much rather have a ZF 5-speed.

im probably just going to keep my NP435 and get the flywheel i need. I know a guy who sells military tires locally and he said 42" military tires with 6lug wheels (2.5 pattern) will cost me 750, at 80% tread. cant deny a deal like that when i couldnt get 2 new super swampers for that price and 37 military tires cost that much. either way ill need new wheels. cant wait to get this 460 pieced together and fired up!
