diesel oil in gas engine?
#31
Interesting thread. I've never used the diesel oil myself. Just reminds me of a couple interesting things I've run across.
1. This https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-visc-tsb.html
I use 5W-30 at this present time. The reason I do is because I have an actual oil pressure gauge in my truck. This tells me if my engine (229,000 miles)can maintain minimum oil psi. It does.
2. This Motor Oil 101 - Bob is the Oil Guy
Definitely something worth reading. Most on here have probably read it I imagine.
I might run the diesel oil for the detergents one day. From the sounds of it, they'll clean a motor up pretty well!
Kinda off topic maybe, but also kinda on topic
Chris

My wife's Isuzu built SOHC 6VD1 engine is known for clogging the drainback holes in the oil control ring's land and then burning a lot of oil.
The rocker shafts are also known to wear.
With over 200k on it I'm not concerned about a little 'extra' viscosity when hot, but I surely want the oil to flow when cold.
The excellent anti-wear + detergent package can't hurt.
This oil has definitely made a difference with hydraulic lash adjuster (lifter) noise.
Running a high detergent oil and a quality filter all the time will go a long way towards not allowing sludge to build up in the first place.
I could care less about BS claims by manufacturers and self aggrandizing internet "experts".
Blackstone UOA tells me that T6 can easily go 7,500 miles between changes, and I will continue to do so.
