Hi all,
New to the forums, but I'm having issues. I have a 2004 Explorer, V6 4.0 with about 150K on it. I'm having an issue with the timing chain tensioners (there is a slap inside the engine) but I don't think that's why the engine won't start. The wife was driving (and yes the slap was there) and the car suddenly stopped. The engine now cranks, but won't start. This happened once before, but if I gave it some gas it would start and run relatively smooth. Also, the guages would jump around when trying to start. I took it to the mechanic and got the following set of codes:
U1900- CAN Communication Bus Fault
U2023- Abnormal message from PCM
B1352- Ignition Key-In Circuit Failure
B1318- Battery Voltage Low...DUH
U2013- Compass Module is not Responding
I also blew the F9 fuse under the hood.
Ford Dealership says I need a new engine because the timing chain broke but they haven't confirmed that. They are just listening to the engine and saying it sounds like there is no compression.
I have two engines on the shop floor right now because of the same issue . One is a 4.0 , the other is a gm inline 5 cyl . Both trucks got transplants . It cost less to replace both than repair them !
