So the tuner from 5-star gives you the option of reverting back to stock? I'm assuming the dealership can't see a history of ECU 'updates?'

Why did you choose the 93 tune over the 87? I like saving 30 cents a gallon, myself. Do you get that much more performance?

Yes, you can store the stock/factory tune on the tuner itself. It's easy to go back to stock. Ford can see record that you've messed with the PCM, which is why folks worry about the warranty.

I have 3 custom tunes (which is an option you get w/ 5 Star) that I can use at anytime. I have the 87 economy, 87 performance, and 93 performance (as well as the ability to store the stock tune).

I can't stray from the 93 tune because it's so good (more hp than the 87 tunes). I don't drive much so a tank of gas usually lasts me a week or two so I choose to use that tune to maximize the fun factor when I do drive. If you're anywhere near me, feel free to shoot me a PM and we can meet up, I'll let you take it for a spin.

Appreciate the offer - course I'm 10 hours away in NH.

Has anyone at the dealership ever commented on you messing with the computer?

Nope. I haven't flat out told them I'm tuned either (my sales guy knows but he's cool with it and would help me out as much as he can if I ran into trouble with service). I throw it back to stock before I head there, takes 5-10mins to flip flop the tunes.

You just have to assume the worst and be willing to pay, ya know? At least we're not talking about tuning a 6.7, where a tuned induced failure has the potential to cost you 10's of thousands!

6.2 with 4.30's in new truck.
Last night the finance manager told me that he took it around the lot a couple times. They had not had a truck set up like mine before.
He loved it.
