My battery maintainer and Marinco plug mod.

I bought a CTEK 3300 battery maintainer and wanted it permanently attached to the truck. I also wanted to do the Marinco plug mod but didnt want to cut the cord off the maintainer to hook it up so I wired up a short cord off the back of the Marinco plug with a female plug on the backside so it can be unplugged anytime.

I decided to put it just under the passenger side headlight on my ranch hand.
Here is the plug with the cord wired on.

I ran the plug up beside the headlight and the space behind the grillle and ziptied the excess wires away.

Mounted the maintainer on the cover on top of the radiator.

Pretty cool! Did you drill that whole in the bumper, or was it already there?

Attempted to drill it with a hole saw but to no avail, ended up drilling small holes in the groove that the hole saw left and then punching it out and using a dremel to smooth it out. FYI it takes a 1 7/8 hole saw for the plug.

Yeah, I have a fairly similar Ranch-hand on mine, and I can't imagine drilling a hole in it. Your's looks really good.

Thanks. I was debating on not putting it there but it blends well, one things for sure it sure is tough metal. My truck had the ranchhand on it when I bought it. Yours looks like it sticks out a few inches from the truck like mine does. Ive got room I can stand between mine and the grill if I have my feet turned sideways. Ive seen some that are so close to the grill that you couldnt slide a sheet of paper between it.

Yeah, it does. I stand on it sometimes while I work under the hood. Mine is to replace the bent stock one after some woman pulled out in front of me and then slammed on the brakes. Officially my fault. I wouldn't recommend her trying again now that I have that big plow on the front!

Both batteries are hook in parallel from the factory. So you can hook up the charger to either battery and they will both be getting charged at the same time. I hope this answers your question. Eric

The batteries are interconnected, so either one would work. I have 2 of those plugs, one for the block heater and the other for my battery float charger, both on the black plastic part, under the bumper.

The maintainer came with both alligator clips and eyelet ends incase you want to permanently attach to the battery. Got the positive cable hooked up and the ground going to the alternator bracket. It has a quick disconnect on the cable in case you want to move the maintainer to another vehicle.

Mounted one of these to my barn in CO for working inside rather than
having to run extension cords all the time.

ReelWorks Retractable Cord Reel — 40Ft., 12/3 SJT Cord | Cord Reels| Northern Tool + Equipment

"When" I move there I'll do something like what you did to plug-in.
In FL, not really an issue..
