Trying to help a FTEer with a relay WI to KY

I'm trying to help a fellow FTEer out and have run into a snag.

Jon, 52' fordnut posted last week about issues he has with the hood for his truck.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...od-issues.html

The PO did a bondo job on the hood and it doesn't look repairable. I have a hood from a Manure Spreader that I will never use. I tried to sell it but got no takers. It's not pristine with some dents and one rust out bu I think it's in a lot better shape than the one he has. The price is right, free.

The original plan was to have fellow member Craig, Dmptrkr, who travels frequently between Milwaukee and Lexington, take the hood down to Ky and have Jon pick it up from there. Craig came up to my house yesterday but we couldn't get the hood into his SUV. It was very disappointing, I really want to help Jon. I would like to set up a relay to get this thing delivered. I know there are members who travel so I'm hoping to have 2-3 of you guys help out. Anyone going from WI to KY or points in between, or the other way around and going back? You'll have to have a pickup or larger SUV. Jon doesn't need the hood tomorrow or next week. He has a lot to do on his truck but I'd like to get it out of my pole building before it gets damaged with more dents. My family doesn't appreciate old truck parts and tend to toss my truck related stuff around without any care.

Can anyone help?

Bob, Kentucky is a big state. What town in Kentucky does he live in?

Edit: Never mind. I opened his profile and see that he lives in Corbin, KY. FYI. That's in south central KY right off I-75.

Doc, I meant to add his location but just forgot. Yeah, every state seems to be big. I see FTEers from WI and most are 300+ miles away.

Hopefully someone can help out.

Relays like this are a great thing, it might take awhile but you can't beat the price. I sure hope it works out

I Googled Corbin, it's about 90 miles almost directly south of Lexington,in Kentucky death mountain road miles it probably seems like 190. That's why if it would have worked out with Craig it would have been great.

I do this all the time with Farmall cub parts. Sometimes it takes 6 months to get a plow or disc moved. The last item I relayed a fellow picked up a whole tractor from my place, went to PA and then it went to VA then to Georgia and then to S carolina all for FREE

I do have a deal going on for a guy from west of Chicago to pick up some farmall tires. Wonder if we could get it to him, him to me, me to Tn for the smokey mountain run right down 75?

I'll see whats happening on my end first

Man Kevin, you should have boxed yourself up and taken the ride. Sounds like tractor did more traveling than most of ever do.

If we can accomplish this using FTE members the added benefit is you get to meet other FTEers.

If you can get it to Kentucky, or at least as far as Cinci, I can get it to Corbin.

I've helped move MV parts this way, and used to move rescued GSDs this way.

I have trucks, but would it fit into an E350?

I live about a hundred miles on the other side of him, or I would offer to help.

What part of the journey is 52 fordnut going to drive? Maybe that would help you guys figure out the rest of the trip. Corbin to Louisville or Cincinnati is just about a 2 or 3 hour drive for him I imagine.

Many years ago I hauled a 56 hood I bought at Carlisle in a Plymouth Voyager mini-van. It was a tight fit but we got in. Aren't 48-52 hoods more narrow???

I would almost certainly guarantee it would fit inside a van with full-sized doors.

I usually get to the Dayton, OH area a couple times a year and come south on I-75 past Corbin. Many times I make Corbin a fuel and food stop. Right now I have no immediate plans for this trip but possibly later this spring. I would almost always have room for a hood.

I'm in Versailles Ky 10 miles west of lexington and about 10 miles off I75/64. If that would help for a drop off point. Sorry truck is not drivable yet.
