my c6 wont shift into drive unless i hit the gas pedal a few times then it goes into gear. It goes right into reverse. One it gets on the road it runs great. Is it my transmisson filter???

check the fluid level. also the color and smell to see if its been abused.

already checked the fluid everything looked good there. I also checked the vacumm line at the back of the tranny everything was good there also

based on my 78 manual, there are 4 things to check. fluid level,linkage, clutch and band application,or oil control system

The seal on the forward piston gets hard on older (high miles) trannys and causes the aluminum piston to get a grove worn in it and fluid leaks past it until you step on the gas and the pressure builds up enough to move it up past the grove, then slam, it's in gear.
Just one possibility, and most likely, if it has alot of hard/high miles on it.
