1988 F150 5.8 V8 Injector problems

I have a 1988 F150 5.8 V8. The previous owner had the truck parked for years and the fuel injectors keep getting clogged. The fuel filter is stopping rust from the fuel tank but the injectors keep becoming clogged and have to be removed and cleaned. The fuel filter has been changed three times so far.
After a few hundred miles of driving the injectors are clogged again. I know I need to change the fuel tank, but any other suggestions.

Keep changing the fuel filter, or break down and remove the tank, perhaps purchase a new one and if I were to drop the tank and it had any rust in it, then more than likely opt for a new fuel pump. A few hundred miles is near two full tanks of gas, so maybe run some HEET or Techron through the fuel system.

Why are the injectors getting clogged, the fuel filter should be stopping the dirt. The previous owner removed the rear tank and the lines are bent over.

IF you have removed the injectors, and can physically see rust or debris in the screen of the injector, there is contamination somewhere between the pump, filter and line. Perhaps the fuel line running from the output end of the filter is lodged with rust and it continues to break loose, so only the injectors screens are picking up debris. You could disconnect the fuel line to the fuel rail, and use an air compressor to blow the line out. You may only get a clearer picture if you physically remove the tank. If you decide on doing that, I would go to the car wash and really clean well near and around the fuel tank as much as possible. It will make working under it easier when all the dirt starts to fall in your eyes and perhaps the tank itself. The tank could be falling apart inside and more and more rust entering the system.
