96 E150 302V8 broken bolt in water outlet

While changing the thermostat my father-in-law broke one of the bolts on the water outlet. There is about 1/4" left to get hold of. Normally we would weld a nut to the stub and get it out but there is not much room and too mutch stuff to damage. We tried heating it and an extractor but it just rounded the rest of the threads off. I suggested trying JB Welding a nut on but I do not know if it would hold. Anyone else have any suggestions? I really do not want to pull the intake off.

If there's enough room to get a vice grip on it I would spray it with PB, heat it up and tap the vise grip with a hammer. Sounds like it's seized pretty good so your only choice may be to take the intake off and drill it out.

Not sure if you have time to wait for something like these to arrive before proceeding:

Grabit-Pro | Alden

The QuikCenter Tool

I've used both to great results, keep a few on my service truck in the most common sizes. Not bad price-wise either, mine came from Amazon
