New Member, New Truck!
Hello,
I recently upgraded from a shot-out 74 Dodge Dart Swinger for $300 to this (IMHO) beautiful 1965 F250 Camper Special! Paid $2100. This site has already been very helpful in my early research on this vehicle. Just saying hello today, but will have many questions in the future haha!
Thank you,
Tim

Thank you, very happy to be here! What little more I know:
Custom Cab
4x2
352 V8
Already have a parts order in to Blue Oval, for a rear window and tailgate release rods. Still need an emergency brake cable, gas gauge (or whole instrument cluster, I guess), original AM radio, full set of hubs, one defrost vent and possibly a radiator... if anyone out there has parts for sale! Thank you!

1965 F250 Camper Special, Custom Cab 352 V8

Still need an emergency brake cable, gas gauge (or whole instrument cluster, I guess (not!), original AM radio, full set of hubs, one defrost vent and possibly a radiator.

The back glass (and windshield) can be purchased from any autoglass shop, so there's no need to buy from Blue Oval (where do you think they buy it from? ) and pay a marked up price and shipping charges.
The radiator is hard to find as it's 1965 F100/250 352 only .. plus Camper Special's came with a larger 'extra cooling' radiator. Suggest you have yours recored. C/S's weren't available w/4WD until 1977.
All the Styleside tailgate parts are the same: 1964/66 F100/250 2WD, 1966 F100 4WD, 1967/72 F100/350. The tailgates themselves interchange, but 1967/72 looks slightly different than 1964/66.
3 different emergency brake cables, front and R/L rear. Your '65 has 12 1/8" x 2" front/rear brakes. 1966 F250 C/S's have 12" x 2 1/2" front/rear brakes, use different cables.
Same AM radio chassis (with transistors): 1964/66 F100/1100, 1964/67 Econoline, 1964/69 N/NT/T500/1000, 1966/77 Bronco, 1967/69 F800/1000.
Radio antenna is not the same as Bronco or Econoline. It's C3AZ-18813-C .. same as 1963/64 Galaxie and has been reproduced. Speaker and mounting bracket not the same as Bronco or Econoline, either.
Gas gauge doesn't work. It could be the gauge but the usual cause is: The float (COAZ-9202-B) is made from two pieces of copper soldered together.
Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float settles to the bottom of the tank.
Fuel tank located behind the seat, remove the sending unit, unhook the float from its crooked arm and shake the puppy to hear if gas is sloshing around inside. Float available from Ford and all the repop sellers.
Full set of hubs? Do you mean hubcaps? Lotsa luck, almost as hard to find as Judge Crater, Jimmy Hoffa and Amelia Earhart! I haven't seen any since LBJ was prez and these trucks were brand new.
I assume you live here in LA LA Land since you're dealing with Blue Oval (located in an industrial park in NE Anaheim, no name on the building, almost as hard to find as hubcaps!).
You have other local choices: The Truck & Car Shop in Orange, John's F-Fun Hundreds in Pomona, Early Ford Store in San Dimas, C & G Ford Parts in Escondido.

Wow, thanks for all the great info NumberDummy!
Blue Oval's glass price seemed reasonable, so I went with them.. the couple local shops I called said they wouldn't have the glass.
I'm only a few miles from Ventura Radiator, who a previous poster said would be good to have recore my radiator!
The reason I believe it's just the gas gauge itself, is because the PO painted the interior and in the process busted the glass on the instrumental panel right over the gauge (the instruments also do not light up)...
Found one set of bottlecaps for a 250 on ebay, but they are pretty pricey... mulling it over......
I live in Oxnard, CA. Ventura County. Just north of LA LA land!
Schoo I see your PM. Get right back to you...
Thanks again!!!

The 1965/66 F100/250 Custom Cab 'sweep speedometer' instrument cluster chromed plastic bezel and clear plastic lens (C5TZ-10876-A) is repro'd by Dennis Carpenter.
Carpenter's 1957/66 repro truck parts catalog uses Ford part numbers and all the parts are illustrated. Blue Oval's catalog is a mish-mash, hardly any pics, difficult to read and has errors. Their VIN decode info is horrid!
I've never looked in NPD's (National Parts Depot) catalog, but you can. Since you live in Oxnard, whiz over to 1376 Walter St in Ventura, where NPD is located.
A heck of a lot closer than Blue Oval in Anaheim, you can see the parts before you buy them and no shipping charges if you pick the parts up.

You don't have your P/M and email features activated.
Send me an email (sylhall@aol.com), I'll pass along a members info that has piles of used parts for these trucks. He owns a guess what? Did you say 1965 F250 Camper Special?
Give that man a kewpie doll.
