Do you have a U-Pull junkyard near you? That same KS is used on several applications from the late 80's - easiest donor would be a '87 - '90 2.3 Mustang, as they sit up on the upper intake. It's a part that rarely fails, so no concern re-deploying a used part.

Regardless, don't worry too much about running without one in the short term. Just make sure timing is set properly.

You don't need it hooked up. It does nothing if its unplugged (meaning no codes or check engine light)
Continue on with getting it running and when you fine one, put it in.
Any 300-6 and 302 f-series has them as well. On 302 its above bellhousing on top behind intake.

Knock sensors are not all the same, they're often tuned for a specific frequency. Just make sure you get one with the same part number.

Here is what I come up with:
FOTZ-12A699-A is obsolete from Ford, but
Walker 242-1009
Tomco 29049
NAPA # ECHDKS312
The NAPA # seems to be the esiest to get. Hope this helps man.

Great info Wade! I used to have some links to Tomco to look these obsolete Knock Sensors up, but the links were not working the other day. The previous post is correct, there is a frequency difference between the V8 and six cylinder versions.

In the long run they are not 100% required, but if you really want one....
