On the 05 the common failure point is the STC fitting under the HPOP cover.
The STC fitting connects the hpop to the branch tubes. IIRC - the parts are around 50 and takes about 3-4 hours to put in if its the first time you tackle it.
New STC one-piece fitting (Branch Tube Adapter with Jam Nut) Part #: International Part # for the kit : 1879930c91t
Ford Part # for the kit: 4C3Z-9B246-F
(9/5/09 Ford will soon come out with an updated part with the number 4C3Z-9B246-E)
The kit contains the one piece fitting, 2 bolts (M6 x 30: Flange Head Fiting to Adapter), 3 bolts (M8 x 55 Torx - Pump Mounting), gaskets and o-rings, instructions
Oil Rail end plugs (d rings from the front port or also called dummy plugs)
The dummy rail plugs are Ford part number - W302908 (these have been updated to prevent leakage)
You need one new dummy plug for each side.
When removing the original plugs, you need a 10mm allen key. They are torqued to 60 ft-lbs. The NEW replacement ones, will require a 12mm allen key to install. And when you do, ALSO torque it to 60 ft-lbs.
This is all From Bismic's Spreadsheets. they are a great tool. Chad is right though has he gone through the diagnosis procedures?
The best way to diagnose for an HPOP leak without a teardown: Remove the ICP sensor which is in the passenger side front of the valve cover---has 3 wires going to it---use this hole to pressurize the HPO system with air. Remove the oil fill cap, remove the CCV hose that goes into the air intake from the other valve cover, take a piece of heater hose and listen in BOTH spots. If you hear air coming from either one it's probably a leak in one of the oil rails. If you hear air coming from BOTH sides it's probably the STC fitting. The HPOP itself if virtually bulletproof on the 05-07 motors, but leaks can and do occur.

Mike, I need a Barn like yours. I'd be able to do lots of stuff. Of course I'd have to have a new house since the polls from the fence won't allow me to get into the backyard as it is.
Pat, since your injury your posts have gone way down. Any luck with your truck yet from Hallas?

Glad to hear Pat. That truck is going to be stout! Typing with one hand sucks. I know things have been pretty crappy for you lately and you have helped me out a bunch, so I have one question to ask you, what style of headlights do you like better? Harley-Davidson or regular '05 and up chrome? Your choice my brother!

I'm in the same boat Rich. The girl and I would like to move in together, but I kept the house after the divorce and she won't live here knowing that. I understand cause I wouldn't really like to do the same if the roles were reveresed. I'll have to short sale mine and go from there. Next house will have an attached garage or a wider drive into the backyard. Maybe we'll have an FTE moving day get together.......Yes Mike free beer and food will be provided.
