Whats the difference between 4.6 3 valves?

I have a 2006 Explorer 3 valve with 2 bad cylinders. Now i am looking for another motor. Are all longblocks the same between Mustangs and Explorers? Are the heads and cams all the same? What changed between 2008 and 2009? I would like to buy a low mile one from a 2010 but am not sure what hiccups I will run into. Thanks for any advice. Mike

I would think that they are basically the same, You will probably need to use your old intake and exhaust manifolds to fit in the Explorer, but the basic long block should be the same. A local salvage yard should have a crossover book to verify.
