Ok thanks fordman. What would the air bubbles indicate? As I said above, the last time I caranked it, the HPOP res was full and after I stopped, I was able to watch it drain down to about an inch or so below the top. It drained pretty quick, so is that an indicator of possible blown orings or is there something else that could be the culprit?

air bubbles indicate blown injector orings. Sounds like that could be your problem, its a good place to start.

Sami, Here is what I used to build a set of test gauges. I can't remember exactly what we may have changed but on the JIC fittings, I simply change one # 4 to a # 5 for HPOP that way I change one fitting and switch gauges and check fuel press. or HPOP from one 60" hose. hose this length can be duct taped to windshield for under load tests.

Part #'s on my fuel gauge set up are-(1)#4MB-#4MJIC (#4 male boss to #4 male JIC)
(1)#4FJX-#4MJIC90 (#4 female swivel by #4 male JIC 90egree fitting)
40"-60" of 5000 (or so) PSI hyd. hose with a 0-100 psi gauge on one end and a #4FJX ( #4 female swivel fitting) on other end. I then have adapters to use on OBS fuel systems and an adapter (and 5000 psi gauge) #5 male boss -I think- to check HPOP as well. Sorry, you should be able to get these fittings at any place that makes hyd. hose repairs or at least understands it.

Thanks guys. Fordman I will be taking a look at that tonight.

540milotalon, thanks for that info man. I will keep it for future use, but at this time its not feasible for me as I dont have a ride to get any place that may have that stuff. the local napa i know has the guage needed for hpop, but the fittings i dont think they have.

Ok here we go. I got the vc's off and had my lovely wife crank it. I watched and saw nothing at all. No oil movement period. I am gonna replace the batteries and tae another look just in case its not cranking fast enough to build low end pressure but the oil guage does go up when crankng. So I say we are 98% sure of it being a bad HPOP. What do you guys think?

I'm guessing NO on the bad HPOP. Generally if they fail they blow their guts all over the valley and there would be an oily mess everywhere. You may still have a High Pressure Oil issue, but I seriously doubt that it is your HPOP.

If you think the truck is cranking slowly, that may, indeed be a good place to start. If these trucks don't crank over at a decent speed they won't fire.

And did you ever get a good quality (Ford or International) CPS in that thing? I think last we talked you were going to do that after the taxman paid you back. That should be step one before you spend some serious coin on HPO parts. I don't think I recall seeing anyone ask whether you have unplugged the ICP connector and looked into it for oil either. I still think it is either CPS, IPR, or ICP that is your issue. Batteries may be a compounding problem, but unless you have a battery shorted internally (which would kill the power) a bad battery won't shut the truck down while it is running.

Sami, do you get a "Wait to Start" light when you turn the ignition on?

I hate to say it, but I think you just wasted your money on that HPOP.... Especially when just a few more dollars would have bout you a T-500 pump that would be a major upgrade over a stock pump. Cancel that order if you can...

Like Nate said get the T500 if its not too late.

If you can make it down to Columbus for a day, we can have that new HPOP installed in an afternoon.

Nate, im gonna pm u my number if u can talk for a bit off this site.
My name is steve btw.

Todd, i wish i had the money for the upgraded pump but not at this time. I dont need the upgrade as bad as i need the truck running. If i could get it up to columbus i would gladly meet u. But it doesnt start and the tow would be more than the truck is worth. Unless u wanna come this way. With the vc's off, there is absolutely no oil flow at all.

Hey Steve, I just returned your PM. I can't talk on the phone right now (shh....I'm at work) but you can text me or we can chat via the ol' FTE thread, lol. Otherwise I can call you after I leave work.

I would still cancel the order if I were you, as the money spent on that pump (which I don't think you need) would replace just about everything else that could be causing your issue.

You need to answer these questions though for us to help you.

Do you get a wait to start light?
Did you replace the CPS with a Ford or International Part.

If you don't want to talk here, that's fine (I know some are shy about the interwebs) just text me at the number I sent you in my PM. I'm not trying to be a pain, but we have to eliminate the simple things before we take a huge leap to the big things.
