If it were me i'd fix that injector and try the balloon test again and if it tests good I would stop right there. What did you torque the hold-down bolt to when you installed the injector?

to be honest.... I might have over torqued it a touch with my heavy azzz hands, but are they that tempermental?

I mean I didn't go over 28 ft/lb

Question:

I wanted to test the other 3 and make damn sure I don't have more than 1 injector leaking by......... is it wrong for me to do that?

Did you use a torque wrench. I've always done 28 ft-lbs, with my digital 10-100 ft-lbs Gearwrench torque wrench and have never had a problem. If you're using a bigger torque wrench, that could be your problem, they are usually only accurate in the upper 80% of their range.

Dave Id throw the Ballons Out

And just do it the Bubble test way

You will see tiny bubbles as to where they might be missed with the Ballon

It takes more Compress to notice it in the Ballons I thinking

I dont think it was your torq either I think you just got Yet ANOTHER Bad Inject

You will have to use your judgment here but if you feel anything was over torqed replace the Holddown too

larger torque wrench........

I would like to check the other 3 while I am already down there. I just don't want to tear into it / put it all back together and find out that I have another injector leaking.

or at least I would like to check the #6 injector seeing how that is the one I done to swap test with. After that then I will feel better about going into it again.

if they failed really bad then ya i would think they blow the ballon right up

Correct Benny......

#2 is new ........... #6 is the old #2 if that makes sense

Yes #2 is showing bad, but I want to check #6 also ....... seeing how I messed with thtat one also. If #6 checks out I will tear back into it Friday and see what the damage is. I am hoping it is an o-ring or copper washer that only needs to be replaced.

Report:

guys......... I think I made a rookie mistake

tore back into the driver side valve cover and the hold down bolt for the #2 injector looked loose.........

yup........ loose as a goose

The injector itself looked to be ok........ I cleaned it up real good

the only thing I can figure out is that I forgot to blow the threaded bolt hole out before I torqued the bolt back down and it vibrated loose.

Result:

the o-rings were shot so I am picking up another o-ring kit at local dealer

and I will be replacing the driver side glow plug harness also.

then button it all back up and cross my fingers

Does the injector cup need cleaning? You might want to pick up a set of brushes.

Glad I read this on the way back home. Just stopped and picked up some round brass and steel brushes.

Not sure how everyone else does it, but I put a little bit of grease on the orings after soaking the inj in oil.
