Question CA Diesel Smog???

Heard that some of the newer trucks will be subject to smog tests same as gasoline vehicles. Dad has a 2010 F350 CC LB 4X4 and that is when I first heard of this. Did a little research and according to the DMV website all diesel trucks after the 97 model year will be subject to smog checks? Does anyone know more on this??? I have an 01 F350 7.3 which I posted in my intro. The only smog I have had was what I believe they call a "snap throttle test." I wasn't there but was told they just stamp the loud pedal and make sure it doesn't billow smoke and it passes .... Please correct me on this if I am wrong. I'm just wondering how they could go back and require smog checks on vehicles that never had any of that equipment from the factory. My truck has no EGR, no DPF, and no CAT either .... One of the reasons I have been debating on keeping this truck or not based on these smog laws

As with gas vehicles, it matters only what was OEM. If there was no DPF, EGR or Cat, it doesn't matter. If that stuff was on your truck and you removed it--trouble.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't look too bad as any modifications to my truck will be with the intention of making clean horsepower. I don't plan on driving around billowing black smoke ....
