DTC 1211 FICM light

I got a hypertech programmer and while installing it DTC 1211 popped up. I called hypertech and they said my FICM is going out. The light only comes on during WOT and goes back off after about thirty minutes of normal driving or shutting off the truck, and it was doing this before I installed the programmer. Is this something to lose sleep over or can I get by like I have been. Also, does the truck lose performance once this code comes on or will it continue to function as normal?

P1211 ICP Not Controllable — Pressure Above/Below Desired
They are steering you in the wrong direction. The code refers to Injection Control Pressure. It could be caused by a faulty ICP sensor or a weak HPOP. I'd check the ICP sensor on the driver's side head for an oil leak inside the electrical connection. Common problem. A tuner can also aggravate the problem by demanding more ICP than the Hi Press Oil Pump is capable of creating.

1211 means that you are not building enough High Pressure Oil Pressure when you get on it. It will do it every time you hit WOT. Basically your injectors are requesting more HPO than the stock HPOP can provide. You might be losing a tiny amount of power a the higher end of WOT. A T500 HPOP would solve the problem or you could lighten up on the GO Pedal.

And if your truck is a 7.3 you don't have a FICM.

yes its a 7.3 and if I'm understanding correctly it's not a detrimental problem. Easing up on the long pedal on the right is easy enough. Where is the ICP sensor located and what does it do?

Injector control pressure, it does exactly what it sound like it does. It's located on the driver side head in the valley toward the front of the engine. I'm sure someone will post a pic to show you I can't on my phone.
Yeah your fine like you said ease up on the skinny pedal on the right. Try putting your truck in stock tune and do a wot pass... I bet it doesn't come on. I've got the same problem with mine, I replaced the icp sensor and still get the ses light so I think it's my hpop

Heck yeah! Thanks for the picture! John2001, it was doing it in stock tune also at WOT. Do I need to pull the sensor and clean it too or just the pigtail at the top and be sure it's clean.

Thanks again to all of you guys.

Just pull the connector. Oil in the connector is a sign the sensor is on it's way out. My truck has been running rough and sure enough, my sensor had oil in it the other day. Replacement time.

Okay, so the connection is clean and apparently 1211 is to be expected with a programmer. Fair enough. Thanks to everyone.

I wouldn't say it's to be expected with a programmer, but yes your oil pump can't keep up. Like fixitman said, a Terminator T500 is a nice upgrade and not too hard on the wallet. There are other options out there, just do your research and pick your poison. I would try to sell the hypertech and get a TS chip with your choice of a variety of quality tuners files on it or a DP tuner, but that's just my opinion. You'll still probably get the code with these tuners too, but you'll be much happier. If you can afford it get some bigger oil on that truck, if not keep your foot out of it.

He said it does it the stock tune also. I'd say he has a issue
