What do I have 1942? or 1945 46,47?

I recently aquired a Ford truck. Not sure what I have 1942 or 45,46,47. The guy I got it from said it was a 42. I have not located a VIN yet. The truck has a cube box that the driver sits in and cargo area behind that. No cab like a regular truck. The truck has the Ford script in raised letters on the side of the hood. I have pictures but haven't figured out how to attach them yet. Any info on where to look or what to look for to indentify the truck would be appreciated

Welcome to the site. You aren't in Minnesota are you? The truck you are describing sounds like one that has been for sale on Craigslist in my area. Is it a yellowish/orange color with black?

You might get a quicker answer posting your question in the 47 and older truck forum. 1947 and Older Ford Trucks - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums I'm not sure how to tell the difference on that age truck myself. I use to own a 46 but don't have enough knowledge on that age truck to help you out.

The easiest way to post a picture is upload them on a site like Photobucket.com ( free ) and then just copy the IMG links. Paste the links in your post.

You are right, it is the truck that was on craigslist. It was listed as a 1942, but I don't think it is. Any way it was going to be crushed so I deceided to save it. Now I want to figure out what it is. Hopefully I can get some pictures uploaded and someone will know what it is. Thanks Kut

Good luck,

That's a cool old truck. Glad you saved it.

Welcome -

Most '42's had a Ford emblem on the hood, after that it was "embossed". Although lots of hood swaps occurred as that was the only difference in the hoods.
