What he was saying is the 02 and older does not have the removable front suspension so that is not what you want. What you want to use is the 03 -04 front suspension as it bolts to the cv frame, hence it will bolt to the truck frame. The 05 and up suspension will also work but if you use the engine there will be more wiring than the older cv.

There is another guy that drops the pick up body on the older crown vics frame, just like my previous post says, pull the car body off and put the truck body on.

This Clifford build is pretty motivating! What a beautiful truck.

SkinnyPedal, were you able to use the crown vic driveshaft? Also, did you use lowering springs on the front? You have a perfect stance!

Thanks for this thread. Due to this thread and others, I'm in the hunt for a Crown Vic right now to convert my truck...

I know this thread is old!!! Skinny pedal you still out there? I have the CV front suspension from an '04 and I just got a line on a motor, trans, wiring, PCM, rear diff and drive shaft from a '02 for $400. In one of your posts you say buying the wiring harness would be easier. Would it be easier to use the Ron Francis kit for just short of $1000? Hope the truck is still doing good! Its an inspiration to many.

I cut a round and half off of the OE vic springs up front. and I did use the vic's drive-shaft. I did have to install a spacer from Summit.

Sry all,
Been awhile since I been on here. I will try and check in here more often now.

Doing the wiring yourself in a lot cheaper but purchase one is a lot quicker and easier.

What did you find the dimension between the rear mounts of the lower A-arms to be? I'm not 100% sure the measurement on my donor car is correct, as the frame appears to have been tweaked and the alignment on the RH front tire must be off from the way it's been chewing the tire. LH front looks good.

Also curious about mounting the CV brake booster/master cylinder and pedals if you have the time... And the gauges, did you remove the clear lens off the CV gauges to get them to fit?

Diggin from the dead. Here is hoping that SkinnyPedal comes back. I have some questions about your wheels and how the truck is doing after all these years.

2016 Update

My son still drives ClifFord everyday and I jump in it every chance I get.
ClifFord has 42k miles on it as of today. 11/26/2016
We did drive it to Daytona and back from north east Tennessee in the spring of 2016 for bike week. We pulled the bikes down with it.

We have built 4 others since this build and have plans to build me one.
I have already purchased a 1968 f100 and the donor car. Hope to get started on it soon.

build thread Coming Soon 2017; "BuFord"
