97 7.3 fuel injectors?
I got a new one that I know that someone on here will tell Me the truth. I was talking to a reputable diesel fuel service company (rebuilds injectors, pumps etc) doing it over 30 years, anyway I had told Him that I pulled My valve covers to check wires, connections etc. and that I noticed that number 3,5,and 6 injectors were not (what I describe as "spitting") oil as much as number 1,7,2,4,and 8 were. He said that the ones that were not pumping as much oil were getting weak. also I had to go on a parts run for other items for other projects that took Me to a local International truck dealer while I was there I asked a service tech about the oil "spitting" injectors same as described above. He told Me that the injectors that were "spitting" more oil 1,7,2,4,and 8 are the ones that are getting weak. not injectors 3,5,and 6 which He said are fine? Please someone tell Me the truth, or are all injectors evil?

I think Jim would be our qualified guy to address this.
Him or Ryan Casserly.
I'd trust either of their's opinions being their time in 7.3 injectors vs the rest of the industry.
Others here would know, but if you were looking for an injector builder to answer, those are the 2 guys.
The thing I've learned about injector builders is that there are a lot of people doing it.
But not everyone is really doing anything at all.
The reason being is that they are taking basic machine practices and sending out a mass produced style product.
Thats why they only sell 160cc injectors with stock nozzles, nothing more.
Because they dont have the knowledge or equipment to do more.
Those are really the worse guys to buy from, but they have the customers, so they rip them off.
Such is the world with everything.
Now, I'm not sure who you did end up talking to, nor will I speculate, but remember that not all of this technology has been around 30 years.
Sometimes words are smoke and mirrors. =)

From my experience some just are more difficult to see oil spitting than others.
I'll go so far as to say qty of spitting oil doesn't automatically mean some have issues.

Well Jim already chimed in. I was going to say that it's possible to spit too much or too little oil, so unless you have a really good baseline and are extremely observant, or have a lot of experience in watching oil discharge from 7.3 injectors, I wouldn't judge oil flow as a sign of weak injectors unless it's something obvious like no or very little oil coming out of a cold injector that picks up to a noticeably greater flow when warm.
Even then, if you do discover a few weak injectors, don't the other injectors have just as much wear on them too? Wouldn't it stand to reason that they too would become weak in short order, or in comparison to new (rebuilt) injectors?

The best test for wear would be to remove the solenoids and measure the gap under the armature plate.

Good point. I buy my trucks new, so I sometimes forget that not everyone knows the entire history of their truck.
