5.8 4x4 Gaser UP and RUNNING!

here's the thing... I have a battery isolator. Alternator burned out for some reason. Replaced engine computer and now it runs OK, alternator disconnected. It WAS smoking when i had it connected... Fuel-pump would run constantly and not that's fixed. So, WHAT is the minimum size of alternator I should put on to run that BOSS plow pictured, is there a MAX size amps that i would have to put on it? I have two battery's tied into a rectifier running one with the engine side and one that runs on the plow side to charge both battery's off the alternator.

I would check the harness thats the G2 alternator in that, they had harness problems with them catching fire. If it was mine, I would do a search find info on the G3 swap. Either grab one from a junkyard with a harness(taurus mid 90s box body had 130amp) or get a parts store one. Fuel pump constantly running check your relay had them stick before also. Company I use to work for that plowed in the winter all we ever did was tie the secondary battery into the primary(drivers side battery tray and cables connecting the 2).

you know i was looking at some auto-zone alternators and they all have harness connections. are THOSE 3G alternators?! I see 60-120 AMPS and they all look the same. The harnes that i got has all ring connectors on it and NO plug in. IF I convert it, would i need to splice the current harness? If so, is it color coordinating?

You should have a 2G if your working on the truck in the pic.
My 89 the previous owner did most of the work so when I replaced the alternator all I had to was clean up the wiring.I followed the instructions in the link I posted.

ok guys!!! got the THREE G ALTERNATOR!! Off a 1995 mustang V6. Wiring seems easy. yellow to HOT side of starter solenoid NOT to the wire going to the starter. GREEN to GREEN wire coming from Voltage Regulator. WHITE loops to the SINGLE terminal S. Hope it gets working good! What size wire for the charge wire from the alternator battery post? what fuse should i put in line?
