Off Road Fuel?

Just out of curiosity.....I've heard two different theories about running red diesel in my truck. I have heard that it will burn the tips off the injectors and Ihave heard that it won't hurt anything at all, other than my pocket book if I did it and got caught. Just wondering which is true?

Go ahead and use it. I'm assuming that you would only be using it for offroad purposes.

My brother borrows my truck from time to time and fills it up at his work. Little did I know he was fillin it with red. I've never even seen anyone get dipped, but I sure know I'd be pissed if it happened to me with his fuel in my tanks!

It is the EXACT same fuel. I work at the refiners A LOT and when a truck comes in that takes out OFFROAD fuel, it get REGULAR fuel put in the tank AND red dye. There is no difference other than the DYE.

Now, with that said, dont get caught using in in a ON ROAD vehicle.
It can vary from a 100 1st time fine to a $1,000 PER GALLON fine

$1,000 per gallon of dyed fuel is pretty severe.

Some guy told me that they now have a detector that can tell if you have red dye in your fuel just by driving by. I think that's BS.

I think what he's talking about is checking the trail marks from the obligatory fuel leak for red dye.

Just kidding, guys.

Same as what was said above, exact same fuel just different color. and yes don't get caught. i had a buddy who needed to empty a tractor trailer generator before they could move it.(no one had a hazmat endorsement) got about 200 for free best thing ever three months without buying fuel. Ran the same i just added the power service additive just to be on the safe side that it had extra lubrication.

Hmm, filling up tonight, I noticed one pump said "Dyed fuel, off-road use only, high sulfur". Makes me wonder if maybe the red stuff really is different.
