51 f-1 hood

Hey guys,
This is actually my first post in any forum ever so if I'm not doing it correctly I apologize in advance. I recently purchased a 1951 f-1 from a family friend. My father-in-law and I are working on it in his shop on Sundays, we were sand blasting yesterday and the very last piece we blasted was my hood. Well, just like my luck the sheet metal warped badly! I am now on the hunt for a new/different hood. I really don't know a good place to look, I only seem to be able to find 53-56 hoods. Any sources or ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated. If I put this post in the wrong place just let me know where I'm supposed to post and I will happily do it.

Thank you,
Ryan

You might try these guys, don't know how close they are to you.

Owens Salvage Co.

I have a nice hood but don't have time to hassle with shipping it.

Hello Ryan and welcome!

Bummer about the hood. If you haven't already done so, I would troll the Craig's List ads. There are certain to be listings popping up like this one in San Antonio: 48-52 ford truck parts - $1 (SE San Antonio )

Happy Hunting and go easy on the blaster next time out.

I have a hood from a 51. It needs work but not too bad in my opinion. I'm in California.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I may have a line on a hood, I may end up contacting one of you if it falls through. The one I came across us covered in rust some I am going to gently hand sand it to check for flaws. Lol

sounds good. good luck.
one place to check on the hoods for rust through is on the sides where the hood hinge brackets attach. moisture and dirt gets.trapped back there and sometimes rusts through.
