you can't possibly know this with the amount of info he posted.impossible.
this could be very true or very false info.there is no way to know this.he didn't even provide the miles he drives per yr,let alone all the rest of the variables that would decide that.

After I posted that, I realized he stated he wanted to sell his truck to buy another. Disregard my post!

I dunno why someone would say stay away with EFI, I did a 300 EFI swap on my Bronco and torque and reliability skyrocketed. That same motor got me 20 mpg in the half ton truck it was in it. 200k

I pulled a few trailers and cars with my '96 300 w/ manual trans. It took all the hills and turns going through Missouri to Iowa and back no problems, except getting flipped off by 90 year old women in Civics lol. It will pull the whole day long, and it gets decent mileage too (20-25 MPG in my case), but it is the love child of a slug and tortoise on the highway.

I see what your saying, I should have been more clear, he could stack a cord of wood on the truck and he would stack another 2 cord in the trailer he towed. Plus the truck has overload springs. Which help a ton!!!

I used to own a 1996 f-150 reg cab with the 300 inline six (4.9L) and mazda five speed manual trans.

Great motor, loved that truck. But I sold it and bought a 1995 F-250 supercab with the 460 (7.5L) because the 300 inline six was a dog when towing.

The 460 is great, fuel economy aside I am glad I went with the 460 and did not keep the 300. In a perfect world, I would have kept the 4.9L and bought a second truck with a 460....best of both worlds, but money and life get in the way of that.

Good luck...

Oh BTW I laugh every time the words 460 and fuel economy are used in the same sentence...and I cry at the gas station filling up those 37 gallons (w/ 370 miles traveled)
