??? Reluctor Wheel Part #???

I am working on a swap to a diesel in my 2003 4.6 F150. I need the part number for the Reluctor Wheel or Crank sensor Wheel. I've been told it is a 35 tooth wheel with the 36th tooth missing. Anyone have that part #?

Have you looked at the Ford crank sensor and what teeth it counts?
It has a long snout with an O ring seal setting it into the front cover.
There is no outside reluctor ring as a stock item
If you look on Rock Auto's catalog there is no ring listed.
The sensor counts off the crank gear.
Good luck.

Not so, i just got off the phone with Ford (moments before your post) and it is a separate part known as a reluctor wheel or trigger wheel. It's part # is XW1Z-12A227-AC. (LAST two letters AA is the same wheel) I will be using it as an external add on to the harmonic balancer of the 4bt that i am installing. HOWEVER, i do need to see if i can find the OD of wheel. It may be too little in diameter to use my factory crank sensor in conjunction with stock dodge balancer. Any Help appreciated.

I agree that there is no External wheel, though i intend to use the wheel externally on a cummins 4bt. However, there is a separate wheel that the crank sensor counts teeth on called a reluctor wheel or tone ring or trigger wheel whatever you may choose. The sensor DOES NOT count the teeth on the crank, but rather this wheel. I've seen the parts diagram showing it. If I am incorrect, i do invite your correction.

The wheel is mounted on the crank internally.
You ask for info, no one answered so you asked a second time.
I looked it up to be sure for both a Mustang and a truck motor before I gave you an answer.
What do you do but come back saying i'm wrong on a small difference in wording.
Good luck, no futher reply from here if this is the way you handle things.

Please don't be offended. It was not my intention. I asked for help, not reply is correct. But, i did not lay down and wait on someone to find the info for me. I simply kept looking and finally found a Ford Dealership Parts man that would help with a part number. Once it was discovered was able to keep my research rolling. Then, i open my thread up to post what i had discovered only to find that you had replied. To the best of my knowledge, according to ford and diagrams listed below, your reply was not correct for my particular motor. It may be correct for others, but not the 4.6 in my 2003 F150. XW1Z-12A227-AC Search this part number and look on ebay- there is a diagram that will allow you to move a magnified window over the exploded parts diagram to discover the wheel part number 12A227- It is internal and it sends the tach signal to the PCM according to FORD.

If i'm wrong i need to know and would expect anyone else to desire to be corrected. BTW the miscommunication comment was in regard to it being internal. I could see where someone might think i was saying it is usually external.

Here's the pic of wheel that only has the purpose of communicating with the crank sensor.
