1996 F-250 7.5v-8 gasoline engine stalling after warmup/short run time.
As stated 96 7.5 gasoline engine that stalls after coming up to operating temperature. Running down the road it will simply sputter and die. Not overheating.
Items already replaced:
1. Coil
2. Distributor pickup
3. Plugs
4. Wires
5. Distributor Cap
6. Timing checked
7. Battery good,,,less than 1 year old.
This evening after tinkering with it for over 2 hours, this is exactly what it does.
Starts and runs,,,,checked timing, and its at 10°. Ran for about 15 minutes got up to operating temperature,,,RPM's are about 800. Then it sputtered,,,then revved up(on its own) to almost 2k RPM and died. Starter drags very hard when it dies like this. After 10-15 minutes starts back up,,,,sputtering and popping until RPMs are up. Pop the throttle a couple of times and it runs fine,,,,until it gets to operating temps again.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated

I had a similar episode with my 96..
There is an electronic module on the driver side fender (ignition?), under the hinge. Anyway I took it off and there was a bunch of dirt and corrosion between it and what I think is a heat sink under it. I cleaned it up, and put a very light coat of dielectric and put it back together. It started right up and haven't had a problem since! Hope this might help...

Just a note...
Although it says to use dielectric grease, it should be noted to use thermal grease such as Artic Silver or any number of thermal greases suited for computer CPU's. If dielectric grease is all you have, then it should be acceptable and cleaning as the previous member stated will help.
