Look to replace with a aluminum tank polished ?
I called some tank company's and they seed it was not legal to have fuel tanks with gas out side of your frame rails.
If I have one already do you think I can get a way with it?
I still have the one in the cab behind the seat
Not sure who you talked to but they are made for just about all trucks, with or without steps, aluminum or steel. many other manufacturers too.
GMC Fuel Tanks

That's a "dead" tag axle. They usually have 60% - 40% weight distribution where 60% goes on the drive axle. A "live" tag axle will have sheaves and large V-belts between the duals. These are still available, and also offered as drop axles.
