Picked up a 96.. 5.8.. Time for dana 60s

picked up 96 with 5.8 and auto trans.. was a plow truck.. but i removed the harness and plow mounts.. gave it back to PO.. wasnt gonna spend 3k for a plow truck..

Suspension is too worn out.. and i was given a set of dana 60 1 tons.. because a guy nextdoor to me parted out a 2000 f250 diesel.. and was gonna scrap them.. blah blah blah... brought them over to my lot on a forklift..

-front needed brake rotors and pads.. needs an axle shaft on the passengers side..
rear needed brake calipers.. brackets... rotors.. and pads.. had to hunt down the proper grade 8 mounting hardware.. but i found it... and its an almost complete differential now.. needs a pinion nut.. lol

to finish the rear.. i need f250 driveshaft that i ordered.. and brake lines.... fill the diff with fluid and a nut..

i will post pics a little later

I dont understand the point of your post

If you has a F350 you would already have a Front dana 60.

if you have a F250 then you would have a TTB D50

and those axle you got from the 2000, are NOT dana 60s.
the rear is a sterling 10.5 and the front is a Dana 50

Why is the pinion nut off? Better check bearing preload when putting on the new nut. You might even want to put on a new crush sleeve.

Fixing worn suspension prob woulda been cheaper fix. Fix it, stump jump it for awhile, scrap it, get $300, get on craigslist and buy another for $500.

I tried the patch job already.. New coils in the front.. New rear leaf spring bushings.. New shackles in the rear.. Front needs all new balljoints and whel bearings+ complete brake job.. Just doesn't make sense to keep the old suspension.. It will cost as much as the swap would cost me

Man those axles would give give you another 600lbs of scrap weight! So now the plan should be to just stump jump it, toss axles in back, soak interior down with water, fill engine and fuel tank as well. That would be one hefty some bish. Prob get 600 outta it. I just kiddin. Good luck on your jouney of swappin in axles.

$36 is like 1 30 pack of budget beer, 10 cheeseburgers, and 6 fries at mcdonalds. You would be chowin like a king for a night. Your guts might hate you the next day, but hey, its beats being thirsty n hungry while you work on your bronco.
Iron here is 10 cents a pound. They pay $1 per rotor. Also scrap cars are 12 cents a lb. Sounds like scrap is cheaper where you are.

Is the bronco any good or is this gonna be a play toy.
The bolt pattern for the wheels are different so getting mud tires to fit isn't gonna be cheap.
I say go for it. Buy some 1ton van coils and retro fit some long arms onto the strait axle and some coil perches. Sounds like a fun project.
