This has probably been covered before but I just replaced the ficm power board or called the IDM 5010598R92. Price was $188. Core charge $235. But i took the old one with me. I Picked up a new board and installed no problems. This was much cheaper than a repaired board or new board from Ford. All numbers are exactly 48v now. Thought some of you might want to know.

 

Oh got these from the international dealer in dallas

 

If you keep doing this to Ford, they will have to take hand out form the Gov.

P.S. Thank for the infor., just can't understand why Ford would screw with us like that.

 

What gets me is all the repair places charging more than getting one from International. ford is just marking it up 100%. Kind of weird

 

Not so weird if International is charging Ford $188 for the board.

 

$235 for core ........ "The Old One" was that just the board or the entire FICM....... housing and all?

Just a quick thought, isn't the vt365 from navistar de-tuned to 300hp for medium duty truck applications? If so, wouldn't the ficm be mapped differently to lower that power rating? Or is that done through the pcm?

 

The international part is just the upper half of the ficm. Its just the power board that goes bad. The logic board has the programming. That doesn't change.

I'm not sure about "all the repair places" but the quality repair place (FICMrepair.com) upgrades the weak parts therefore the higher price.

 

Exactly... All that was bought for $188 is another part that will likely eventually fail like the first part

It's the same board you would get at ford. For half the price. Some repair places probably do good work. I think this part is way over priced for what it is from ford or repair shops!

I have heard great things bout ficmrepair.com I'm sure does great work.

 

So I am going to turn this dead thread into a zombie and bring it back to life.
What are the core rules with IH? I talked to ed and his price on just a power
board replacement is silly that is the base level board that he stats with and
tunes it up with better components.

What is at issue is the board I cooked is not usable so I need to replace it to
get then a good upgradable power board. The IH board price has come down
some so I think it they have a reasonable core policy he will be getting a nice
board to start work on.
