96 bronco water intrusion
Hi, I have a 96 ford bronco and I recently pulled up the carpet under the back seat and it was SOAKING wet. I dried it out and am wary to replacee it just yet. It does rain alot here in VA and I have been wondering if it is water intrusion around the seal on the camper top. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Since it's 3-dimensional and should be adjusted for both open & closed positions, it's too long & complex to go thru step-by-step in text, but basically, the bolts on the bottom adjust it side-to-side so it's centered, and the ones in the taillight opening set it front-to-back so it's against the seal when it's closed, and up-and-down when it's open so it's level with the floor. The strike bolts are adjusted front-to-back to hold the top against the seal, and up-and-down so they're centered in the latches.

i'm also have a problem with water intrusion immediately behind the driver and passenger doors: the carpet is soaked after a good rain. i saw the previous post and i went and checked my door seals, but they look okay. should i replace them anyway? my truck is in great shape, and i don't feel like dealing with rust...then it'll be just like owning a jeep (which i did before, and i've learned my lesson).

Figured out the rear seal thing. On the 96 broncos, the water is designed to drip through the seal on the rear windown through the tailgate and out the 3 holes in the bottom of the tailgate. Our holes were blocked and the water had eroded away the seal around the access panel. Nothing a little silicone caulk and a plastic sheet couldn't fix. Works great now.
and to InlovewithGreta: try sitting inside your truck. Get someone to spray a water hose around your front door seals, push the seal down lightly with your finger, you will see where it is leaking. It pools up in the channel by the kick panel and the carpet wicks it through.
Hope this helps.

InLoveWithGreta,
Great name BTW. What is the condition of the rain gutters at the very ends of them? Any cracks in the sheet metal right behind the rain gutters? Broncos do tend to develope these cracks right there and moisture can get in if the gap gets big enough.
