My latest project!

Since I got the bid to salvage the Mess Hall I thought you guys would get a kick out of the process. This is what it looks like now. The removal company will be here the 25th to remove all the remaining asbestos, then we can start the salvage operation. And make some good $$$$$

That's not a half bad looking building Don. I guess the pictures make it look better than it is, eh?

I almost bought this building a year ago, just for storage. It still is saveable, but they want it down so I'll take it down..........

That's a shame. You know that they are looking at it as an empty building liability.

The insurance on a building like that would run $3,000 per year, and you would have to be a fool not to have insurance.

I have one in Baltimore like that. I want to sell it, but now is not a seller's market. After the huricane last year, insurance, taxes and maintainance, that building cost me $10,000. I still have to find someone to take down the 45' x 10 x 10 chimney damaged in the earth quake.

You should see all the buildings I've torn down at the Hanford Reservation up in Washington. Talk about a crying shame.............

This is the first of three buildings they want me to remove. The two others are the bowling alley, and the dispensary. Those will come later this summer.

There are people that come in and remove the bowling alley lanes. They pay top dollar. I used to cut them in sections, and load them in containers. You may want to check into that.

I may get a plane ticket, and fly out to visit your base when I can walk a little better, sounds like a really cool place.

The alleys are long gone already............Just the building left.

If I had my way, I'd turn the bowling alley building into an indoor shooting range. It's 120 feet long, and with all the LEO's and hunters around here, I think it would make a sweet business...

Your more than welcome to come visit anytime! You could even stay in my motor home while here.......

And it is a very cool place, with a ton of potential...

What a cool idea! The management company probably has deaf ears tho.... Back to the insurance thing, and I bet that one would be expensive

That sounds like a deal.... I may take you up on it.

Probably have to rent a tractor trailer car carrier to take home all that good automotive Iron I'll fall in love with!

Ahhh, Ok, it's a self contained community. Cool. Looks like a lot of potential.

Is the community surrounding it large enough to support it as a commercial venture?

I am the management company now..........I would do a lot more promotion on this base, but don't have a "piece" of it. Yet............

There are three owners that own this place, and two of them live out of state. All three own and run their own businesses, and have NO time to devote to this project

Sounds like now that you have some control, the place has a brighter future.

The base would have full support from the people around here, and I have the support of the county government, and the port district. Just need someone else with some vision and willingness to work at it.

I'm working at it.........But I'm just an ol retired fart with drive and vision, just no cash........

I "retired" two years ago when I bought a house and a couple buildings here, and never dreamed of doing something like this, but the idea just drives me on to make this work.

Dude, you'll never retire. You'll just slow down a bit......

When I can walk again, I'm going to hit the ground at full out, lol
