This Custom Cab S.D. has the 15,000 lb front axle and the 38,000 lb rears, which brings the GVWR to 51,000 lbs

 

One earning money back in the day. Has lighter 5 spoke front axle and may or may not be a dual drive tandem, many were tag axles.

 

Another top of the line F 1100 tractor.

I still have yet to go see that super duty, I will hopefully soon. Been trying to get back in touch With a guy down the street from it that has some other parts I need.

 

Bet that tandem tractor from the 6/29 post is a diesel conversion. Note the air cleaner pre-cleaner sticking through the hood, exhaust stack, and oil stain on the fuel tank. Detroit 6V-53's fit nicely in those Fords.

 

Awesome thread. I had a 57. Don't remember a lot about it. Had juice brakes and single rear axle. Gas V8 and a long flat deck that I hauled a Jap Cat about the size of a D4 on over a mountain. Was all she could do but did it well till I ran out off gas and went backwards till she found a flat spot the brakes would hold her on. And this at night on a secondary old logging road. Some of the dumb stuff we did in our younger days. I wonder how I made it to 60.

Sorry I dont know how to attach a photo but I =just noticed the fuel tank which is exactly the ones (two) on my 1956 ten wheeler. Exact mounts and all.

finally made it back out to see this truck again. got pictures this time. I'm sure I will be back there again.

 

Any updates? I just got an original radiator for mine.

I'm still looking for other parts and pieces.

Is that the standard for these trucks? My images are the only pictures of a super duty radiator on the internet.

Here it is next to a 1970's f600 radiator:



They are both awaiting a re-core/restoration.

Anyone want to decode this? Haha.
