I have a good one. In the movie " RAY" about Ray Charles, the movie in the beginning is segmented by years, 48 52 54 etc. In the 1954 street scene the the 1954 comes up on the the screen and 2 seconds later a 56 ford comes in to the scene. Laughed my a-- off. bill

It drives me nuts all the articles that say they were '56s built to look like '55s. Because the 55s are so rare.

The original concept was for '56s, but it was '55s (or 53-55) that were built-period. All three were slant cabs from day one. One started out with a '56 grill prior to the build and all three ended up with a '56 grill, but they were not '56s.

Back to topic though I like the black '54 and the white garage truck (it was a 57-60 though) in Hollywood Knights.

Correct you are! What's funny is that I had read that before and had to Google to find the link I posted. It never made sense to me to convert three '56s to '55s, but here was two different articles saying so. After reading your post I dug deeper. Took two searches, but this is what I found:

So I've been crushed, apparently you can't believe everything on the internet!

In the movie American Graffiti there's a yellow '56 parked along side the downtown main drag where the cars cruise up and down.

I just watched that scene again tonight for probably the millionth time (they're running a 24-hour marathon on GMC). I rewinded it a half dozen times. The right rear fender on that truck is bent way out. It almost looks like a big stick or piece of steel got caught inside the wheel well, or it took a hard hit in the rear and buckled in the middle. The flathead sure sounds good in that old truck.

Good reason not to let anyone use your truck in a movie. I wouldn't want mine abused like that.

I belong to another car forum, shoeboxford. A year or two ago, a Hollywood scout (or whatever they call themselves) registered on the site and asked the members to loan their cars to an upcoming movie. They pretty much all politely told the guy to take a hike.

Here's the ESPN "3" footage I was talking about. It shows some really good details of an F-3. Go to the 5:25 mark and enjoy.
