I have Kris it isn't the easiest to do but I didn't know one thing about pulling engines and I got it out no problem. I pulled a 89 F150 302 2wd auto trans. If you have any questions just ask me I can probably help if I get back in time been super busy around here.

Bill he means a 87-91 Ford Fseires truck. We have 3 of them including my 88 F150 which is my baby. It is just a nickname here on the forum for that year style. There is also Bullnose for 80-86 Fseries and OBS for 92-96 F150 and 92-97 F250 and F350s like Craigs F150.

Howdy AZ been busy with the house again got a lot done but a lot more to go. Craig congrats on the land. You are lucky you have experience under your belt my dad is the only one here with experience here which makes it hard. If I were you don't go to Tank Depot for a water tank they suck. Took forever to get it and then we had to pick it up at the highway.

Good Evening Arizona.
Thanks Trav.
I will use as many local suppliers & contractors as possible. Loomis tank is in Dewey AZ.
I got my Ford today. I had a new Richmond Distributor & Motorcraft Ignition Module installed.
I went to my friends house & as I got ready to leave the truck started then died. I switched fuel tanks to the rear tank & it fired & ran home seven miles just fine. If I would switch back to the front tank it would lean out & start sputtering, when I switched it back to the rear it ran fine.
This has been an on going issue. There is also a possibility that gas is going between front & rear tanks. (This is a 95 F150 where the fuel pump is in tank. NO HI PRESSURE Frame rail mount pump.)
My question is there anything else I should check before I have a new front tank fuel module installed. Also it was noted that sometimes the fuel pressure would fluctuate 5-8 psi. Then stop & run steady. Also the shop ran this truck for 5 days & couldn't get the truck top act up. It was find until this afternoon. If I go out now hours later it in the past would run just fine for days.
Any Ideas, or thoughts I'm baffled & so is the shop. In fact two different shops.
Fuel pressure would run 38-45psi. The only other baffling thing is twice it stopped on both tanks. My thought is maybe the check valve on the front tank fuel module is letting the gas from the rear tank bleed into the front tank & not let enough pressure or fuel to the injectors.
Any help appreciated.

Howdy Az Craig on these dual tank Fords the fuel selector valve go out I had to get a new one for my 88 F150 because it broke while trying to take off to clean. If not that check relays if not that then probably the fuel pump.

Good Afternoon early risers.

Trav,
You can hear the pumps switch tanks. What else can go wrong with them? I put in a new tank switch & new fuel pump relay in a few weeks ago. I had a new fuel filter installed a few thousand miles ago.

I am not sure if these year trucks have them but maybe a fuel pressure regulator is going or something. If you can hear the pumps then more then likely they are good but there is that possibility they are giving off enough pressure to keep it running on the front tank. I have a similar problem on the 86 F150 302 we replaced the rear tank pump and it still does it that's why I think it is the Fuel pressure regulator, a fuel filter, or the selector valve. I don't know for sure what it is we haven't gotten around to fixing it we only use the front tank. I know the 91-96 F150s and similar have only the fuel pump in the tanks and that's it and it is a high pressure fuel pump so there isn't much that can be wrong with them other then the pump. I believe you can take your truck to autozone or similar store and they have a tester that can test to find what is wrong a lot faster then us guessing.

Your right. But two shops can't find the issues. I'm just trying to make sure that I not overlooking anything before I have a new fuel pump installed. This is an intermittent PROBLEM. The other thing is it appears that gas is bleeding between tanks when running. There is a check valve in the front tank pump module. I'm leaning towards it sticking open sometimes not allowing the right amount or pressure of gas to the injectors. Letting it pump to the back tank instead. That would explain the two times it quit on the back tank. Pumping or seeping into the front tank from the rear. That would explain the pump fluctuations. OR AM I JUST CRAZY. Don't answer that. Ha Ha.

Craig-

Is there a pump for each tank or a common pump for both?

It could very well be Craig that the problem is that part. My neighbor has a 94 Chevy Blazer S10 Tahoe 4x4 Vortec V6. It had a problem of where the truck would get poor fuel mileage and run bad. He took it to 3 maybe 4 shops before finally going to one a buddy told me about that is probably the best around here. He fixed it. Ended up being a plastic part of the TBI melted in there and it messed it up truck runs 10xs better. If you were closer I would have you go there he would figure out what is wrong.

Jim there is a highpressure pump in each fuel tank.
