Thanks for the Welcome!
Sorry folks for the delayin getting back to you, I frankly did not know I was accepted into the chapterdue to some confusion at the time I signed up. I am in the Eugene area.
I have been a Ford man allof my life, currently own 2 ’75 F250’s. One is more of a utility truck, a F2502WD Super Cab Camper Special with a 360 and auto.
The other F250 I bought newin ’75, it is a hi-boy 4x4 with HD options. Came with a 360 and 4 speed. Soonswapped out the 360 for a 427, added additional rear overload springs, a rearsway bar from a F350, and a front sway bar from a Chevy. Had a lot of fun withit, the looks on people’s faces when I passed them on long steep hills carryinga camper was priceless. After a while I switched the 427 out for a 428 CJ forthe longer stroke and torque.
One day I was driving on ahighway and fell asleep and ran off the road on a curve and head-on into a treeand then rolled several times. Neither the tree, the truck, or I came out of itvery well. The tree and I recovered. Checked out the chassis and it was good, though the front axle was bent. As I am a machinist by trade I made up afixture to check it and straightened the housing. While I was at it I added aheavy steel strap welded to the axle housing near each end and to the bottom ofthe differential housing. Rebuild all the gearboxes while I had it down, andchanged to 4.56 gearing and added a powerlock posi to the rear.
All of the sheet metal wasa loss, bought sheet metal from various local yards. Considering my experienceI added a roll bar inside the cab and did away with the cab fuel tank. Sandblasted it and painted it with red Imron. I had also painted the entire chassiswith black Imron.
At this point life got inthe way and it has sat for a number of years. I am now getting back to it tofinish out the cab, build a motor for it, finish the wiring, etc. Am planningto upt a stroker 427 back in it.
Thanks again for the greatwelcome and sorry about my slow response.
